Both evening primrose oil and borage oil are rich in the omega 6 fatty acid linoleic acid. Linoleic acid itself is an essential fatty acid, but it is often found in excess in food. The balance between GLA and linoleic acid is more favourable due to extra borage oil.
Evening primrose borage oil is rich in the polyunsaturated fatty acids GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) and LA (linoleic acid). GLA is important for mucous membranes, skin and hormones. Linoleic acid is found in several vegetable oils, but evening primrose borage oil is one of the few oils that also contains a high concentration of GLA.
This supplement may be a good idea if the animal needs support for healthy skin, to support a normal musculoskeletal system and in female animals to support hormone balance.
